Remember Ségolène Royal?

Ségolène Royal was the Socialist presidential candidate in 2007. Her most remarkable achievement was to make herself utterly ridiculous and lose the left an election they should have won with their eyes closed. Shortly after losing handsomely to Nicolas Sarkozy she held rallies to shore up her new-found 'support', basking in the glory of a 'movement that would not cease to gather momentum'. Here's a send-up by a French comedian, and very accurate it is, too. Ségo has not stopped trying to divide the left since her memorable defeat. In fact, her efforts sum up the idealogical wasteland that is French socialism. Or any socialism, for that matter.
