George Best II

George Best scored 179 goals for Manchester United in 470 appearances. That would be a very good return for a striker playing on the type of manicured surfaces we're used to seeing nowadays, but let's not forget that Best was a winger, playing on those often diabolical pitches in the 1960's and '70's and was a continual target for the likes of Leeds United's Norman Hunter and Chelsea's Ron 'Chopper' Harris in the days when talented players didn't enjoy the protection they're used to, now. He didn't even wear shinpads, either. We will never see your like again, George.
